Getting out of the airport
Since we were late arriving, we missed our driver at the airport. So while Toby got our luggage (it all arrived, hooray!), I called my relocation contact at Atlassian to find out if we could take a cab directly to the apartment. This was an mini-challenge in itself: finding a pay phone, getting change to use it, figuring out how to make a local call -- all of these things took my jet-lagged brain more time to process that they should have! But, we got it all figured out and were soon in a cab on the way to the apartment.Getting to the apartment

The best part, though, is the view.

TCBing in the CBD
After we showered and got ourselves a little oriented, we heading down to the CBD to take care of some business. This involved finding the train station and figuring out what train to take where, so actually arriving in the CBD was a minor victory itself. Our errands in the CBD were pretty mundane so I'll skip the details. The most interesting part was being at the WestPac bank headquarters, which looked a lot like Gringotts (Harry Potter reference alert!). We have to go back on Wednesday, so I'll snag a picture.
We also got our phones square away, so message me if you'd like the number.
Staying awake
After our errands in the city, we made our way back to the apartment. At this point, the jet lag was catching up to us, so we ducked into a little market and grabbed some cheese & crackers for dinner. We also popped into a bottle shop (wine shop!) and grabbed a cheap bottle of wine to celebrate our first night in Australia. It still wasn't time to settle in yet, though! We had lofty goals of staying awake until 7 PM. So we decided to walk around the neighborhood a bit. We walked down to the wharf, which is about a 1 minute walk from our front door. There were awesome views from there!

And then we crashed out at 6:30. Almost made it!
So glad you made it safe and sound and getting to experience all these new adventures! I love seeing the photos, you are already missed in these parts, but we are excited to following your urban lives abroad! Many hugs from all three of us. xxx
