Gingerbread house!

Over the weekend, we had a goal to do Christmas-y things and get into the spirit a little bit. So we watched Christmas movies in our pjs and planned a dinner to make on Christmas. We also put together this gingerbread house we'd picked up at Ikea - it was super fun!

Since it came from Ikea, it had all the parts you needed to assemble (of course!). I did have to make the icing and kludge together an icing bag, though...

Just doing the finishing touches!

It was really fun and it made the apartment smell so festive!

However, if like us, you've never made a gingerbread house in a hot and humid apartment before, a little heads up that cold, dry weather is key to the structural integrity of the house. It was noticeably more "cottagey" looking when we got home on Monday, with a saggy roof and bowing walls.

By Tuesday morning, it was gingerbread rubble. =\

But notice how well things stuck to my super-strong icing!

Ah well, was great fun while it lasted!
