We've been so busy with mom & dad's visit, work and other things, and it's been so warm, that Christmas has snuck up on us! But not on the city - it's looking fabulous!
Tree in Martin Place
And another!
The shopping center in Pitt Street has this cool interactive display of carolers. Each one sings a different note when someone walks by. And the more people that walk by, the fuller and louder the song. I absolutely loved it!
Etsy opened a pop-up shop for the holidays. I went with some girls after work to check it out one evening.
were wine and chocolate samples - yum!
I thought this would be a good pillow for Toby.
There was also a photographer on hand, so we got in for a pic!
The David Jones department store has their window displays up. They always do really cool ones and many Sydney people have a tradition of coming into the city with their kids to see what's in the window.
I loved them! They were kind of like puppets with strings that were attached to something (?) so they moved to music. The scenes were from various parts of the store, all of them getting ready for Christmas.
And in the food section of David Jones, the biggest Lindt truffles you've ever seen!
For scale, the woman in the background is standing almost directly next to the shelf
On the day I saw the displays, there was also a fundraiser in Martin Place which involved lots of guys standing around in their budgie smugglers (aka speedos).
Happy holidays!
Last but not least, we decorated our place with our fabric tree! And now it really feels like Christmas!
You KNOW you guys are living the dream...what a great city and how fun it must be to be experiencing a completely different approach to the holidays never mind the weirdness of Christmas in the dead of summer! Love seeing the photos and i absolutely love the fabric tree. We decided to skip the live tree this year, i am now kinda wishing i had one like yours to display!
