I've been back in Sydney for three weeks now. It's been a busy time, getting ready to go on holiday pretty soon! Work has been busy and good, and overall there's been lots going on. It's such a beautiful, amazing time of the year, the whole city gets energized and happy!
But first things first, it wouldn't be an accurate portrayal of the mood here without mentioning the constant attention to the US election. The election cycle for the current Australian Prime Minister lasted about 3 or 4 months, so there's primarily a sense of wonder at the US election cycle. Beyond that, though, Australians generally are half-horrified and half-entertained with the candidates. Obama is hugely popular here, and Trump is hugely unpopular. (Although, interestingly, out of the rural Queensland voting population, a Trump-like candidate was recently elected to the Senate.) People seem to have less opinions about Hillary, but are generally keen to see if we'll have a female president. Overall, the mood is pessimistic and bewildered. And the currency exchange shops are preparing for it to go either way!

Poor picture, but the store is running a pre-election promotion |
On a happier note, spring! Sydney is always lovely, but it's truly at its best in the springtime. People have made it through the "winter" - and seriously, this winter was so mild! - and can't get enough of the sunshine. And everything is blooming! It's a wonderful time. Here are a few pics...
